For NSmen, 51 points is a pass. But the pass mark changes by profile — and one hidden rule fails more servicemen than the total does.

The 1-Point Rule

You must score at least 1 point in every station. A total above the pass mark still fails if any station scores zero — the most painful way to fail IPPT, and the easiest to prevent.

What Happens If You Fail?

NSmen who fail must complete the NS FIT programme (10 sessions, including an IPPT attempt) within their IPPT window. Plan backwards from your window closing date — do not leave your first attempt to the last month.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the IPPT passing score for NSmen?

51 points in total, with at least 1 point in each of the three stations. 61 points earns Pass with Incentive and $200.

Can I pass with a high total but zero in one station?

No. Zero in any station is an automatic fail regardless of your total.
