Methodology — How This Calculator Works

Accuracy is the whole point of this site. This calculator does exact table lookup — here is how the tables were verified.

How Scores Are Calculated Here

This calculator uses exact table lookup — the same method as the official scoring. Every push-up and sit-up count from 0 to 60, and every 2.4km finish time in 10-second bands from 8:30 to 18:20, is looked up in the scoring table for your age group. There is no formula and no interpolation. Run times round up to the next 10-second band, exactly as the official table works (a 10:01 run uses the 10:10 row).

Verification (30 October 2026)

The tables were cross-checked between two independent publishers of the CMPB/SAF scoring chart (the complete tables at ipptcalculator.me and the full score table at ipptcalculator.live) — they agree — and then validated against published anchor examples:

Age 25–27: 30 push-ups = 17, 35 sit-ups = 18, 2.4km 12:40 = 31 → 66, Pass with Incentive ✓
Age 28–30: 22 push-ups = 14, 28 sit-ups = 14 ✓ (statics match the published worked example)
Under-22: 2.4km 12:30 = 30 points ✓ • Age 28–30: 57 reps = 25 static points, 9:00 run = 50 points ✓
All 16 anchor checks passed, and every table passes monotonicity checks (older groups never score less for the same performance).

One Known Disagreement

A 2015-era RunSociety article gives 33 run points for a 12:30 run at age 28–30; the current published tables give 34. We follow the current tables. If SAF publishes updated charts, this page and the tables will be updated and the date below changed.

Profiles, Partial Exemption and Partial Failure

The calculator applies the rules for the profile you select. NSmen pass at 51 points and receive the $200/$300/$500 incentives. NSFs and Regulars pass at 61. Pre-enlistees need 61 points (with at least 1 per station) for the 8-week PTP reduction. Commandos, Divers and Guards need 90 for Gold.

Partial exemption: NSmen officially exempted from one or both static stations are judged on MINDEF's pro-rated passing standards — 39 points out of 75 (one static station + run) or 26 points out of 50 (run only), per MINDEF's published answers on ask.gov.sg. MINDEF also states that NSmen exempted from any static station are not eligible for monetary incentive awards — so the calculator shows Pass/Fail only in exemption mode, with no award money.

Partial failure: an NSman who reaches the pass total but scores 0 in a static station is a partial failure under MINDEF rules — he retests only the failed station within 90 days or before his window ends (whichever is earlier), with no incentive paid on the partial retest. The calculator flags this case instead of calling it a simple fail.

Sources

SAF / MINDEF IPPT scoring framework via CMPB published charts; NSman award bands as published by MINDEF (Pass 51, Pass with Incentive 61 / $200, Silver 75 / $300, Gold 85 / $500). Tables last verified: 30 October 2026.

Why There Is No Female Calculator (Yet)

Servicewomen are scored on separate tables (including bent-knee push-ups), which CMPB does not publish alongside the male tables. We located one complete online copy of the female tables and cross-checked it against the official scheme document for the two youngest age groups: the run table matched perfectly, but the push-up and sit-up tables disagreed in a handful of cells (all by 1 point), and no second source exists for the other 12 age groups. That does not meet the verification standard used for the male tables, so — like the most careful calculators in this space — we do not offer female scoring until it can be independently verified. If MINDEF publishes the female tables in an accessible official document, we will add them.

Not Affiliated

This is an independent planning tool. It is not affiliated with MINDEF, SAF, CMPB or OneNS, and official SAF decisions always take precedence.
