Eligibility turns on three things: your service status, your PES grade, and whether you have an active IPPT window. Here is the full picture.
Calculate My IPPT Score →| Group | IPPT required? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| NSmen, PES A / B1 / B2 / C1 | Yes | Once per IPPT window (birthday to birthday), unless fulfilled via NS FIT. |
| NSmen, PES B3 / B4 / C2 / E | No | A permanent downgrade to these grades removes the IPPT requirement. |
| NSFs & Regulars | Yes, per unit schedule | Pass mark is 61, tested within their service. |
| Pre-enlistees, PES A / B1 | Optional — but valuable | 61+ points earns the 8-week PTP reduction. Not an obligation. |
| Pre-enlistees, PES B2 and below | No | Exempt from pre-enlistee IPPT (PES B2, B3, B4, BP, C, E). |
A medical excuse from one station does not remove you from IPPT — it changes your test. NSmen officially exempted from one or both static stations take a modified test and are judged on MINDEF's pro-rated passing standards: 39 of 75 points (one static station + run) or 26 of 50 (run only). Our IPPT Calculator has this built in — tick the exemption boxes and select your profile.
An NSman's obligation exists inside his IPPT window, which runs from his birthday to the day before his next birthday. Inside the window you can pass IPPT outright, complete 10 NS FIT sessions (one must be an IPPT attempt), or take IPPT during ICT. Leave the window unfulfilled and the next one becomes Mandatory NS FIT. Check your personal status and standards in the OneNS IPPT/NS FIT eService — that is the official record. Serving personnel of the SPF and SCDF also take IPPT under their own service arrangements.
Work out your score first with the calculator (profile and exemption settings included), then read the NSman IPPT Guide for the full annual cycle.
NSmen graded PES A, B1, B2 or C1 with an active IPPT window must fulfil the annual requirement — by passing IPPT, completing NS FIT, or testing during ICT. NSFs and Regulars take IPPT within their service.
A permanent grade of PES B3, B4, C2 or E removes the NSman IPPT requirement. For pre-enlistee IPPT, only PES A and B1 are relevant — PES B2 and below are exempt from it.
Yes — you take a modified test under partial exemption, judged on pro-rated standards: 39 of 75 points (one static station plus run) or 26 of 50 (run only).
