The 8 Weeks at Stake

If you are graded PES A or B1, your pre-enlistee IPPT is worth two months of your life. Score 61 points or more, with at least 1 point in each station, and you skip the 8-week Physical Training Phase (PTP) entirely: you enlist 8 weeks later, straight into the 9-week BMT. Score below 61 and you do 8 weeks of PTP first — 17 weeks total.

How to Get to 61

61 is Pass with Incentive standard — demanding but very reachable. The balanced route for a young pre-enlistee looks like: push-ups in the mid-teens of points, sit-ups similar, and a run worth around 30 points (about 12:30 for under-22s). Put your exact numbers in the calculator, find your cheapest missing points, and train those — most candidates are 5–10 points short, not 30.

Timeline Advice

Do not attempt it cold in the last month. Test yourself 3 months out, train for 6–8 weeks, and take your first official attempt at least a month before the deadline, leaving room for a retake. The 14-day rule means a great score one week before enlistment still sends you to PTP.
